When I arrived at the church, Stephanie had the biggest smile. Cool as a cucumber, she gave me a big hug, then fixed a section of her hubs-to-be’s rebel hair. Rick took me over to their guest book. He’d created it with photos taken during their engagement session, and he was so, so happy. Their excitement and joy during those first five minutes completely set the tone for the rest of the day.
After the ceremony, we headed to a little pond and trail behind the newlywed’s home. It was so cool photographing right where their lives were soon to be more closely shared. We then traveled to the reception space before guests arrived. This was so great, for many reasons. There were plenty of spaces for cool photographs – and we took advantage of them. It was also nice to get shots of the space sans a crowd. We spent a little time at a nearby park about the time guests were arriving, then joined cocktail hour and got the party started with locally brewed whiskey and merriment. I really enjoyed the flow of the day.
Stephanie and Rick had the most wonderful wedding celebration. Their ceremony was beautiful, and the reception space at Dark Horse Distillery was awesome – for a party, and for photos too! But more than anything, the couple’s happiness, their wedding party’s kindness, the guests whoops and hollers during the toasts – those are the things that made it special. And such a privilege to be a part of it.
Congrats to you, and many happy memories ahead, Stephanie + Rick!
