One of my favorite people in the whole world was recently engaged (yaayaaay!) and we had the chance to get together during our Colorado climbing trip a few weeks ago. Sara and Saul introduced me to Roxborough State Park, a magnificent hidden gem nestled just outside the Denver metro. Autumn seemed to have hit the mountain state a little earlier than KC and it was in the middle of a color explosion. The beauty of the changing leaves, the graceful peaks of red rocks towering in the background… completely breathtaking! (I probably said, “Oh my goodness, it’s so beautiful,’ an annoyingly high number of times… I just couldn’t help it!)
Highlights of the session:
– Two minutes into our outing, I asked Sara + Saul to stand in the tall, wild grasses, just off the trail. I love a little foreground in photos. And I promise I’m not a nature hater – I just didn’t even think twice about it. Well, I happened to do so right as a park ranger was passing by. I received a kind, 5-minute scolding, and felt terrible.
– If you notice the missing left-hand bling… Sara had recently taken her ring in to get cleaned and it wasn’t back in time for the session. Her co-workers teased her plenty for not having it for photos. We focused instead on the beautiful coral ring Saul gave her from Peru (which is also where he proposed… on top of Machu Picchu).
After photos, we enjoyed dinner and drinks together. It was so much fun catching up and seeing how happy they are together. I am so, so excited for their wedding day. Congrats Sara + Saul!
